Rest of the Town Report: Proctor Academy

Now in its 166th year, Proctor Academy is an innovative college preparatory enrolling 360 students. In 2013-2014, Proctor enrolls 79 day students, of which 33 are Andover residents. Students come to Proctor from 13 countries and 26 states. General inquiries may be directed to the Communications Office at 735-6213, or the Admission Office at 735-6312.

Sixteen girls and two faculty families moved into a new dormitory on December 2. Whimsically named “Sally B” in honor of a retiring trustee and benefactor, the new residence is located at 56 North Street. The other capital project of interest to townspeople is a set of improvements to Proctor Ski Area. A switch from diesel to electric compressors saves $43,000 annually, while reducing noise. New, efficient lighting and snow guns result in dramatic decreases in electricity use.

Proctor is elevating and promoting community service on campus, in the local area, and through summer trips to distant locales. We actively seek opportunities to help local organizations and townspeople through service. People needing assistance with chores (such as moving firewood, clearing brush, painting projects, etc.) are encouraged to contact Community Program director Adam Jones at 802-999-0066.
