Public comment: Upon the conclusion of the Transportation Study presentation, Nancy commented that she was impressed with the thoroughness of the study.
Board Chairperson’s Report: Michelle expressed her gratitude for the handling of the recent building evacuation incident. She stated that the staff provided a safe and calm environment for the students. She also gave a brief update of the Facilities Task Force status.
Old Business
Facilities Task Force Update: A meeting was held on April 19 with the architect, Tibor Farkas. Updated information will be provided to the committee, and a presentation of recommendations will take place at the June 7 Andover School Board meeting.
Transportation Study: Percy Abbott presented his review and analysis.
New Business
Superintendent’s Report: Mark M acknowledged that it is Teacher Appreciation Week. He has sent a message to all staff expressing gratitude for their dedication.
Contracts have been issued to Administrators and Professional Staff. Support Staff will receive their contracts in the near future.
He is appreciative of Percy Abbott’s work with the Transportation Study.
Mark M and Chris continue to attend Legislative Update sessions.
The Teacher Evaluation Process is ongoing.
Organizing for the end of the school year is currently taking place.
The SAU#46 meeting will be held on Thursday, May 6, at Andover Elementary/Middle School.
Assistant Superintendent’s Report: Chris stated that AE/MS is working with the Department of Homeland Security to acquire some grant funding. The Board is requested to approve the adoption of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and the use of the Incident Command System (ICS) in accordance with the Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD). This will ensure compliance for future grant applications.
The Board voted to adopt NIMS and the use of the ICS in accordance with the HSPD.
