New Hampshire’s motto is “Live Free or Die.” Do you know how it started?” It was from a toast written by New Hampshire’s General John Stark in the Revolutionary War in 1809. General Stark was unable to attend an anniversary reunion of the Battle of Bennington due to poor health. He sent his toast by letter, “Live free or die: Death is not the worst of evils.” Part of that toast, “Live Free or Die”, was adopted as the New Hampshire State motto in 1945.
The “Live Free Or Die” motto means a lot to New Hampshire residents. The people take pride in the motto and live by it. I believe New Hampshire is one of the freest states in the United States. Most residents in New Hampshire continually fight to maintain that freedom.
New Hampshire’s State Constitution is so powerful. Part One – Bill of Rights is a list of Articles that provides specific freedoms to the citizens of New Hampshire, and Part Two -Form of Government states how the government of the state will function.
The New Hampshire State Constitution guarantees, to name a few, the right of free speech, the right to bear arms, the right of privacy, the right of religious freedom, and all are born equal.
At the current time I believe that due to many of the proposed “Bills” in the current Legislature our freedoms are being slowly taken away from us, and if the Democrats win the battle with these bills being passed and become law our freedoms will be taken away from us and the new laws will “control” us. We cannot allow that to happen.
I am hoping the “Silent Majority” (those people who are not vocal, outspoken or active) in New Hampshire come forward and help us take back our State.
