Barbara A. (Tilton) Barton, 70, passed away at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene on September 6. She was born on April 21, 1951 in Franklin to the late Robert and Margaret (Hill) Tilton.
Barbara moved to Andover, where she has lived for more than 50 years. She married her husband, Lewis “Louie” Barton, in 1967, and they have shared 54 years together. She worked as a stitcher in the Franklin Dress Shop and also at Griffin Hacksaw in Franklin before raising her family.
She became a full-time and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Barbara was the anchor of her family and loved anything to do with her grandchildren. She would light up anytime they were around. Barbara enjoyed NASCAR and liked feeding birds and animals. She helped her mother-in-law run a group home for the elderly called The Barton House.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents; great-granddaughter Ashley Doucet; sister Nancy Kinney; sister-in-law Charleen Shank; and longtime family companion, Dottie Bemis.
Surviving family members include her loving husband Louie Barton of Andover; children Stephanie Doucet and her husband Rob; Angie Henderson and her husband Jim; and Rick Barton and his partner Missy Bentley, all of Andover; grandchildren Anthony Barton and his wife Shawna; Kayla Doucet and her significant other Josh McDonald; Patrick Barton; Cameron Doucet and his significant other Jess McDaniel; and Nicholas Barton; great-grandchildren Adryanna McDonald, Gunner Barton, Carter Doucet, Aaliyah McDonald, and Giavanna Potter; siblings John Tilton and his wife Cris of Franklin; Michael Tilton and his wife Diane of Tilton; David Tilton and his wife Dale of Belmont; Karen Barton and her husband Wayne of Spartanburg, South Carolina; Betty Abbott; Mikey Tilton and his wife Michelle of Andover; Tim Tilton and his wife Darlene of Andover; in-laws Connie and Valerie Barton of Loudon; Leona Braley of Andover; Stevie and Marie Barton of Florida; Paul and Gail Barton of Andover; Pauline French of Andover; Georgie and Rachael Barton of Andover; Herbie and Mary Barton of Andover; and Teddy Barton of Tilton.
