Candidates – Selectman: James Delaney, Sr.

Town News - Town Meeting - Candidate - Selectmen - Delaney 0085

My name is James Delaney, Sr., and I have lived in Andover almost all of my life. I left for a while to join the United States Marine Corps and do my tour of duty. After nine years, I came home and started my family. All of my sons have been brought up in Andover, and they still live here, except my middle son, Bryan, who passed away in August.

Some of the things I have done over the years for the town include three years as Recreation Director, three years as a School Board member, and six years as a Zoning Board member. Also, I was on the Budget Committee for three years.

What do I have to offer you as a Selectman? Someone who will listen to you and take your problems to the forefront; someone who has common sense to see things from all approaches, not just one; someone who will work on the problems and try to find a reasonable solution to them and get them fixed.

I am sorry about my performance on the Selectmen interview video, but I was really sick and probably shouldn’t even have been there. I also think that the forum should be changed to a round-robin because, to be honest, some of the questions just don’t make sense or can’t receive an honest answer.

Thank you for your support. Please give me your vote, and good luck to my opponent, Mr. Caron.
