Present: Chairman Coolidge, Selectwoman Mishcon, and Selectman Delaney; Road Agent John Thompson, Transfer Station Manager Reginald Roy, and Town Administrator (TA) Marj Roy.
Road Agent
John Thompson stated the Switch Road plans are being organized.
Wooden deck on Sam Hill Bridge needs immediate repair. The pressure treated wood is about 30 years old, and the cost of replacement materials is approximately $3,000. John thinks the Town crew should be able to fix the wooden deck.
Transfer Station
Reggie Roy spoke about the cost to get rid of the glass at the Transfer Station, which is $30 per ton plus trucking fees. Reggie thought the Transfer Station might have about nine containers (30 yards each) to ship. There are only three places we can ship within the state, with one location being the Town of New London.
Other Business
The Selectmen voted to expend funds not to exceed $16,000 on the Keniston Bridge Study. Selectman Delaney motioned, Selectwoman Mishcon seconded, and the vote was unanimous.
The Selectmen discussed whether or not the Town should reassume the care of the Village Green. In 1917, Proctor agreed to maintain the property in exchange for occasional use of the green. It was decided that no action be taken.
The Selectmen and the Town Administrator went to view the condition of the Town vault.
Chairman Coolidge would like to have quotes on a heating and cooling System with a geothermal energy unit, which he said are about 40% cheaper than conventional systems.
Vicky said that Jeff Dickinson recommends a wood pellet system in this building. Jeff Dickinson would like to come in to talk with the Selectmen this week on heating with pellets.
Special Olympics/Rails Trail event is planned for September 26. They would like to have permission to hang a large banner over Main Street. It was determined that they needed to ask the state Department of Transportation.
Town Administrator
Marj Roy presented the Town investment for the Board’s annual review. It is the same as last year, but it needs to be documented that the Board of Selectmen has reviewed the information.
Andover Internet access issue discussed. We have two homeowners who wrote to our state representative about this issue.
