The 2022-23 AE/MS Girls basketball team’s season began in November, and over 14 games compiled an 11-1 record against other middle school girls’ A teams, and a 1-1 record versus the Proctor Academy JV girls. The team was led by a strong group of eighth graders including top point scorers Adalyn Boucher and Co-Captain Victoria Koron.

Providing outstanding rebounding skills on both offense and defense, Talia Hardie and Addison Bickford made things difficult for opposing players. Seventh graders providing pivotal roles were Co-captain Emma McNutt and Arianna Johnson, with Ada Grotnes, Bria Tremblay, Deborah Leak, Sofia Johnson, and Amelia Bryant as solid performers off the bench. Despite an early season injury, Kaitlyn Stetson stayed with the team.

This team was a true team. In every game they all contributed, not relying on just one standout player to do it all. Throughout the season every player scored multiple times and, just as importantly, created havoc on defense and learned to recognize the value that each brings to the success of the whole team. The girls can be proud that they were a credit to their coach, their school, and their community.

A special shoutout to Mark Cowdrey for always being there to keep score, scout, and as a sounding board. Many thanks to all the families – including Mark Tremblay, who had to jump in at game time for a very sick head coach – for getting the girls to practice at all times and in all weather and cheering them on at home and away!

“I will truly miss these girls. They have come so far from galloping up the court in their younger years to now being a force to be reckoned with! I am so proud of the student athletes they have become and am excited to see them progress next year at AE/MS and in high school,” said Coach Lauren Koron.
