Andover Youth Baseball Gears up for Exciting New Season

Opening day parade on May 6 at 8 AM

The Andover Youth Baseball (AYB) program, a beloved institution in the community, is gearing up for another exciting season. With four teams (TBall, Rookies, Minors and Majors) across different age groups and over 40 players involved, the program fosters skill development, sportsmanship, and a love for America’s favorite pastime.

Opening Day promises a lively start to the season, with a parade scheduled for 8 AM on May 6, winding through downtown Andover. Following the parade, each team will play their home opener, with pictures and celebrations to commemorate the occasion.

The AYB program, which serves children aged 4 to 12, focuses on the development of essential skills and a positive attitude, rather than winning at all costs. Coaches prioritize creating an enjoyable and supportive environment for players, emphasizing teamwork and personal growth on and off the field.

Over ten local businesses have generously sponsored the AYB program, and their banners will be proudly displayed on the backstop throughout the season. The support of these businesses, along with a concession stand staffed by parent volunteers, has been instrumental in the program’s ongoing success.

In recent years, the AYB has undertaken significant improvements to its facilities, including a revamped pitching mound, a new scoreboard, and rebuilt bleachers. The community’s dedication to maintaining and improving the program is evident in these achievements.

The goals for this season include having fun, understanding teamwork, improving baseball skills, and fostering positive community engagement. As young athletes take the field, they can look forward to an unforgettable season of camaraderie, growth, and, of course, baseball.

So, mark your calendars for Opening Day and join us in celebrating the Andover Youth Baseball program. With the community’s ongoing support, this season is sure to be a home run!
