The Oak Room Opens in New London

Classic New England chophouse on Pleasant Lake

Press release
At the helm of it all is New England’s own, Chef Brendon Suhesky. Originally from Connecticut, Chef Brendon has been cooking professionally in kitchens throughout New England and beyond for 30 years.

In late spring 2024, Green Heart Hospitality will open the doors to The Oak Room, a contemporary take on the classic American chophouse. The Oak Room is found nestled amongst the trees, located along the shores of Pleasant Lake in New London, New Hampshire, 1.5 miles north of Main Street within the historic Inn at Pleasant Lake.

The newly imagined Oak Room embodies a contemporary perspective on the restaurant’s storied past. Guests have been enjoying time with loved ones and making cherished memories in the halls and on the grounds of the Inn at Pleasant Lake for 150 years. It is in this spirit of coming together as a community, held together by shared values, common interests, and a reverence for tradition that The Oak Room opens its doors. “This property has meant so much to generations of guests, brought together through the years over lovingly, simply prepared dishes and drinks that never run dry. In preservation of that history, The Oak Room is fashioned around grilled and prepared center-of-the-plate cuts, alongside a bounty of sides, appetizers, and hors d’oeuvres, kicked off with traditional soup or salad and bread and butter, styled in a refined setting and delivered with warmth and care,” says Green Heart Hospitality founding partner, Matthew Meidinger.

The grounds and charming Tivoli-lit stone patio are enveloped in tranquility and provide a serene storybook setting that elevates a great meal. The Oak Room occupies the ground floor of the Inn at Pleasant Lake, resting upon nearly five acres of thick forest, rolling lawns and landscaped gardens with sprawling views of Pleasant Lake and Mt. Kearsarge.

Guests can enjoy an intimate table in the freshly updated 70-seat dining room with stunning views of Pleasant Lake set before the expanse of Mt. Kearsarge; take in the evening from the open-air patio; or enjoy a cocktail and small bite in the parlor. For more celebratory affairs, The Oak Room will accommodate group dinners and social events for up to 90 people. During summer months, The Oak Room is set to offer outdoor dining on the welcoming courtyard patio, as well.

At the helm of it all is New England’s own, Chef Brendon Suhesky. Originally from Connecticut, Chef Brendon has been cooking professionally in kitchens throughout New England and beyond for 30 years. Most recently, Chef Brendon held the position of Chef de Cuisine at Oak & Grain and has for much of the last year been leading the culinary program at The Oak Room’s sister property, The Elms, located 1.5 miles up Pleasant Street in downtown New London. Chef Brendon’s style is one of equal parts tradition and innovation, with a deep love and respect for seasonal ingredients, highlighting local farms and purveyors.

“I can’t do this without my team. We will strive for perfection daily from locally sourced ingredients, to ensure that your experience is a great one,’ Chef Suhesky said. “Our Success will be a result of hard work, loyalty and persistence!”
